Dog Licenses
How do I get a dog license?

The fee to license a dog is $10.00.  The license period is January 1, - December 31.  A current rabies vaccination certificate showing the date of expiration of the vaccination is required.  If a dog owner finds it difficult to come to Town Hall in person, mail in licensing will be available only to those who enclose self-addressed stamped envelopes and a copy of current rabies vaccination.

Anyone with questions regarding dog licenses may call the Town Clerk’s Office at 781-982-2112.

On June 1, 2009 the Abington Town Clerk’s office began charging late fees on dog licenses, per Chapter 11, section 6 of the Abington Town Bylaws.  Owners will be charged a $10.00 late fee for any dog that has not been licensed the previous year.  Owners of dogs that have not been licensed for more than one year will be assessed a late fee of $25.00.

Exceptions to the late fee will be residents who moved into Abington within the last three months and new puppies who are less than six months old.
