Finance Committee

The Finance Committee (sometimes referred to as the “FinCom”) is comprised of nine resident voters who volunteer their time to review and make recommendations on the town’s annual operating budget, capital plans, and fiscal policies, all as may be prepared and submitted by the Town Manager and Board of Selectmen. The Finance Committee seeks to work with our town’s administration and department heads to continually improve our fiscal policies, investments in infrastructure, short-term and long-term planning, and the overall financial health and stability of our community.
The Finance Committee’s authority is derived from our Town Charter (Section 2-3), our General Bylaws (Section 67), and state law. It plays a vital role in the review and presentation of articles to be voted upon by residents at each Town Meeting, and its recommendations are typically valued by voters when making decisions which affect our community.
