COUNCIL OVERVIEW

The Abington Veterans Advisory Council, established in 2023, plays a pivotal role in supporting our Veterans Service Officer, Adam Gunn. Acting as a crucial sounding board for Adam, the Council contributes to strategic planning and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Veterans in the Town.

Their work focuses on a variety of important projects, most recently, the Abington S.A.V.E.S. Fund, which provided $50,000 of financial assistance to Veterans in need, the Purple Heart history initiative, which honors the town's Purple Heart recipients by preserving and sharing their stories, and their next project to implement the Hometown Hero Banners into Abington. In addition to these projects, the Council has supported holiday drives for Veterans and their families, ensuring that those who have served receive recognition and care during the holiday season.

The Council works to educate Veterans about the benefits and resources available to them, helping them navigate complex systems to receive the support they deserve. Composed of Veterans and volunteers who view their service as an honor, the Abington Veterans Advisory Council is dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the lives of local Veterans, ensuring they receive the respect, assistance, and recognition they have earned through their service.

If you have questions about the Council, please contact Veterans' Agent Adam Gunn at Agunn@abingtonma.gov.
