Public Hearing on Route 139 Intersection Improvements

Meeting Flyer in English | Meeting Flyer in Portuguese

The Town of Abington encourages residents to attend an upcoming Virtual Design Public Hearing regarding proposed safety improvements at the intersection of Route 139, Chestnut Street, and Randolph Street, one of the town’s most heavily traveled and high-concern intersections.

Hosted by MassDOT, the hearing will provide an opportunity for the public to learn about the proposed project and share feedback before plans are finalized. The project focuses on geometric and safety upgrades, including the addition of a traffic signal, dedicated turn lanes, buffered bike lanes, new pedestrian crossings with signalization, and improved sidewalks and shared-use paths near Laidler Field.

These proposed changes are designed to enhance safety for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists at a key intersection that many residents navigate daily. Community input is an important part of the design process, and all comments submitted during the hearing will be reviewed and considered by MassDOT.
