The Abington Police Department continues to strongly advise residents to remain off the roadways unless travel is absolutely necessary. Compliance is critical to maintaining public safety during this storm.
Current conditions remain hazardous. Roadways are still snow-covered and untreated in some areas, visibility is reduced due to blowing snow and wind, and there is an increased risk to drivers, first responders, and public safety crews. Emergency services and DPW resources continue to be diverted to assist stranded vehicles.
Emergency Parking Ban Extended
The Emergency Parking Ban has been extended through Wednesday, February 25th, at 6:00 a.m.to allow DPW crews to continue snow removal and cleanup operations on streets and sidewalks.
Vehicles parked on town roadways during this time may be subject to ticketing and/or towing.
Emergency Shelter Update
The Emergency Shelter at the Senior Center is now closed. The Abington Police Department community room is available if needed.
Town Office & School Closures
Abington Town Hall, Abington Public Library, and the Senior Center will be closed on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026. All municipal buildings will reopen on Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m.
Abington Public Schools will also be closed on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026.
Trash & Recycling Update
Trash and recycling collection has been adjusted as follows:
Today’s routes will be picked up next Monday
Tuesday routes will be picked up Wednesday
All remaining routes will be delayed by one day
