The Abington Select Board is looking to appoint (4) At-Large residents to the Trash Advisory Committee.  If you are interested in serving, please submit a letter of interest to the Town Manager, Michael Maresco at mmaresco@abingtonma.gov by Wednesday, July 24, 2026, by 4:30PM.  

TRASH ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Trash Advisory Committee is a citizen or stakeholder board that advises local governments on waste management, recycling, and sustainability policies. They do not have executive or binding decision-making powers.

Core Functions & Duties

  • Policy Recommendations: Provide recommendations to the select board regarding trash collection, recycling, user fees, sustainability and financing options.

  • Sustainability & Recycling: Promote and research waste reduction, composting, and improved recycling rates to lower landfill tonnage and save town funds.

Community Education: Develop public awareness campaigns to improve resident compliance with local recycling rules and waste diversion initiatives.
