On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the Abington Police Department arrested Thierno Keita of Arlington, Massachusetts, in connection with a fraudulent vehicle purchase at 123 Auto Brokers, located at 256 Brockton Avenue in Abington. The arrest follows an investigation into suspicious financial activity reported by the dealership.
Mr. Keita was arraigned in Brockton District Court on multiple charges, including:
- Credit Card Fraud Over $1,200 (2 counts)
- Identity Fraud
- Larceny by False Pretenses
- Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,200
- Attempting to Evade Sales Tax
The investigation determined that Mr. Keita used two stolen credit cards to make payments exceeding $6,000 toward the purchase of a 2013 motor vehicle. He also made a partial payment in cash and took possession of the vehicle prior to fully and lawfully completing the transaction. Further inquiry revealed his intention to ship the vehicle overseas, which would have circumvented the payment of Massachusetts sales tax.
During the arrest and subsequent booking, officers recovered additional evidence, including a credit card belonging to another individual and over $1,600 in cash. Mr. Keita admitted to involvement in exporting vehicles overseas, identifying this as part of his business operations.
This investigation remains active, and additional charges may be filed.
The Abington Police Department is working in coordination with partner agencies to ensure a thorough and complete resolution.
As a reminder, all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
