Arrest

On Friday, September 5, 2025, at approximately 9:12 PM, Abington Police Officer John Sayers observed a 2018 Kia Forte, which had been reported stolen from Plymouth,

turn onto Washington Street from Central Street in Abington.

Officer Sayers attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop, however the vehicle refused to stop and fled the area. A pursuit ensued into the City of Brockton, where the vehicle ultimately crashed on North Quincy Street, near Loring Street.

Both occupants of the vehicle fled on foot following the crash. After a brief foot pursuit, Officer Sayers was able to apprehend the passenger, identified as Clayton Barbosa, an 18-year-old male from Rockland. Barbosa is being charged with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle and Resisting Arrest.

A search of the area was conducted for the operator with resources from the Abington Police Department and the Brockton Police Department, including the use of a K9. The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office Drone Unit also provided assistance. Despite these efforts, the driver was not located.

No serious injuries were reported among those involved in the incident. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are expected. All individual(s) are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
