This override does NOT add new positions.
It simply maintains the minimum staffing levels already approved for the Abington Police Department.
Last year, we did not receive the funding needed to support those levels. But in the short three months that we have been fully staffed, the impact has been immediate and measurable:
Patrol overtime reduced by over
71% Motor vehicle enforcement increased by 38%
Arrests increased by 37%
These numbers show what proper staffing allows us to: be more proactive, be more visible, and be more effective in keeping our community safe.
