ABINGTON, MA — On Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, at approximately 5:09 p.m., the Abington Police Department was dispatched to the area of Walmart, located at 777 Brockton Avenue, for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a 13-year-old juvenile male operating an electric scooter.
Upon arrival, officers located the juvenile, who was subsequently transported by medical helicopter to Boston Children’s Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
The operator of the involved vehicle remained on scene, reported no injuries, and was cooperative during the investigation.
Traffic Impacts:
Westbound traffic on Brockton Avenue was detoured south onto Constitution Avenue, while eastbound traffic was reduced to one lane for a period of time. Motorists experienced delays in the area during the response and investigation.
The Abington Police Department would like to extend our thanks to the Abington Fire Department and the Plymouth County BCI for their assistance at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation by the Abington Police Department at this time.
