On Monday, June 29, 2026, at approximately 8:05 a.m., the Abington Police Department received a report of two male individuals breaking into cars in the area of Colonial Road.

Responding officers quickly arrived in the area and located two individuals matching the descriptions provided by witnesses. As a result of the investigation, officers arrested Bradley Butler, 19, of Abington, and a 17-year-old juvenile male, also of Abington.

Both individuals have been charged with:

- Breaking and Entering into a Motor Vehicle

- Attempted Larceny from a Motor Vehicle

Butler is expected to be arraigned in Brockton District Court. In accordance with Massachusetts law regarding juvenile records, no additional information regarding the 17-year-old will be released.

The Abington Police Department commends the alert residents who promptly reported the suspicious activity, allowing officers to respond quickly and safely apprehend the suspects.

The Abington Police Department is asking residents in the Colonial Road neighborhood and surrounding areas to check their vehicles for any signs of unauthorized entry or missing property. Anyone who believes their vehicle may have been entered, discovered property missing, or has residential surveillance footage related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Abington Police Department, as additional victims may not yet be aware that their vehicles were targeted.

The department also reminds residents to help prevent vehicle-related crimes by:

- Always lock vehicle doors, even when parked in driveways.
- Remove valuables, keys, wallets, firearms, and electronic devices from vehicles or keep them secured and out of plain sight.
- Immediately report suspicious persons or activity by calling 911.
