ABINGTON, MA – September 2nd, 2026 – At approximately 5:52 a.m. this morning, Abington Police Officers responded to Brockton Avenue near the Abington/Brockton town line for a reported armed robbery of a rideshare driver.

Upon arrival, officers learned that an Uber driver had traveled to the area for a scheduled pick-up when he was flagged down by two male subjects. The subjects allegedly displayed a knife and demanded money from the driver.

The suspects obtained approximately $450 before fleeing on foot into a wooded area near the power lines.

The driver was not injured during the incident.

The suspects were described as two Black males wearing face coverings. One was reportedly wearing a black sweater, while the second was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt.

Abington Police Officers immediately began searching the surrounding area. Officers from the Whitman and Brockton Police Departments responded and assisted with the search. Two K9 teams from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist, and an Abington Police Department drone was deployed to search the area from the air. Despite an extensive search of the area, the suspects were not located.

The Abington Police Department is actively investigating the incident.

Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area of Brockton Avenue near the Abington/Brockton town line during the early morning hours, or who may have surveillance or doorbell camera footage that could assist investigators, is asked to contact the Abington Police Department at 781-878-3232.

Residents and businesses in the area are also asked to review any available exterior camera footage from around the time of the incident.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
