May 2, 2026
At our Annual Town Meeting on May4, voters will be asked to vote on two budgets in Article 13: Part 1 is level-funded, and Part 2 is level-service, requiring a Proposition 2 1/2 override.
Article 13 Part 1 is a level-funded budget that would maintain the same spending as FY2026 and would result in major, impactful cuts felt by residents.
Article 13 Part 2 is a level-service budget that would maintain the same services and staffing. To maintain services, voters must authorize a Proposition 2 1/2 override to address the $3.4 million deficit.
If Town Meeting voters approve the level-service budget, it must also pass at the polls at a Special Election on May 16 to be put into effect.
Town Manager Michael Maresco created this chart to educate voters on the impact an override will be felt on their property tax bills.
