📣 Calling Interested Volunteers The Community Preservation Committee (CPC) has three open seats on its committee and is actively seeking applications to fill the vacancies! Apply online at https://bit.ly/Abingtonappointmentform or in person at the Town Manager's Office. ❓What does the Community Preservation Committee do? The Community Preservation Committee is responsible for making recommendations on how CPA funds (a local property tax surcharge) should be spent. CPA Funds support open space protection, outdoor recreation, historic preservation, and affordable housing. ❓What are the qualifications to be on the committee? Applicants should be passionate and enthusiastic about investing Abington's CPC funds into open space, recreation, historic preservation, and affordable housing. That's it! Our form of town government RELIES on volunteers. ⏰ What is the time commitment for the CPC? CPC meets typically meetings twice a month on Tuesdays at 6PM. Their upcoming 2024 schedule is currently scheduled as 10/15, 10/29, 11/19, 12/3, 12/17. ✅ Vote today! Abington's Special Election are today Saturday, September 21, 2024. Polls are open from 8AM - 4PM at the Beaver Brook Elementary School located at 1 Ralph G. Hamlin Lane. The election will fill the currently vacant Selectman seat.

⏰The Board of Selectmen's meetings have a new starting time of 6PM! The Board typically meets the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month including this upcoming Monday, September 23.

The Supporting Abington Veterans with Emergency Services 'SAVES' Fund is in its final month of making grants. A veteran or their surviving spouse is eligible for this fund to assist with food, transportation or utilities (heat/oil/electricity). ❗We want your input! The Park and Recreation Commission🛝 is asking residents to vote on the replacement play structure for Green Street Park. Electronic voting is available through Tuesday, September 2. This play structure is funded by a $60,000 grant through the CPA Committee. Abington is convening a Downtown Center Business Group! Join the informational meeting being held at Arnold. Park on Wednesday, September 4 at 3PM. The Town of Abington has a legislative earmark of $100,000 to address improvements to its downtown. The Town has some questions as to how to best use these funds and would like some assistance in working with the business community to determine the next steps. With 10 full-time employees, the DPW is responsible for maintaining Abington's 225 roadways, sidewalks, bridges, ditches, and brook clearings! If you have a road defect impacting your neighborhood, report it using DPW's Road Defect Form. https://www.abingtonma.gov/forms/dpw-road-defect-report

Abington's risk for West Nile Virus remains at a high level. Residents should take precautions to avoid mosquito bites. The Plymouth Mosquito Control Project accepts requests for mosquito spraying from Plymouth County residents.
