
The Abington & Rockland Joint Water Works (ARJWW) is working towards constructing permanent PFAS treatment at the Myers Avenue Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in Abington and the Hannigan WTP located off Hingham Street in Rockland. The ARJWW’s third WTP, Great Sandy Bottom Pond WTP in Pembroke, consistently tests well below the state’s PFAS limit.

Yardwork season is in full swing! Abington's compost site, located at 171 Groveland Street is open most spring, summer, and fall Saturdays including June 1! Review the 2024 schedule on our website. https://5il.co/2ff65
Leaves and grass clippings that are dropped off are ground into compost. A 30 yard rollover for the collection of scrap metal is also available. Abington residents are welcome to obtain compost and drop scrap metal off for free.


Abington's Town Offices will be closed on Monday, May 27 in honor of Memorial Day. There will be no trash pick up on Monday, May 27. All trash pick up will be delayed one day.


Abington's DPW has been preparing the Island Grove pool for summer! Each spring, the pool is drained, dredged, and new sand is added. Then the pool is refilled and treated for swimming!
Island Grove pool opens for swimming on June 22. The season runs 6/22 to 8/16 and is open weekdays 9 am – 5 pm and weekends 11 am – 5 pm. Individual and family passes are available for both the season and individual days.

Avoid doing laundry if your water is discolored. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. The flushing program is necessary to purge the water mains.
